St. Paul’s plans eucharistic procession for feast day of Corpus Christi

There will be a eucharistic procession after the 11 a.m. mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church this Sunday, June 11.

The procession will make its way out of Saint Paul’s and travel several blocks on sidewalks around the town square and then back into the church.

A eucharistic procession on the feast day of Corpus Christi (Latin for “Body of Christ”) goes all the way back to the 13th century in a small Italian town of Orvieto. In the town of Orvieto, a eucharistic miracle occurred when the eucharist turned into actual flesh during the mass.

Since then, every Catholic parish has a eucharistic procession on the weekend where the Catholic Church celebrates Corpus Christi.
