Christine Marie Stine

Monday, June 19, 2023

Christine Marie Stine, 59, of Groveland, passed away on June 17, 2023 at her family farm. She died peacefully in the home where she grew up, surrounded by family.

Christine was born in Indianapolis on June 30, 1963, to Charles and Rose (Gordon) Stine. She graduated from Indian Creek High School in Trafalgar in 1981. She married the love of her life, Daniel Wade, on October 19, 2008. They shared the same passion for a good bargain and a unique find at auctions and flea markets. They spent many hours together at the beach on Little Gasparillo Island, one of her favorite places on earth.

She is survived by Daniel and his two sons, Jon and Joe and their families; her mother, Rose Stine and Chris’s four sisters, Kate Stine (Brian Skupin), Ann Young, Laura Gochtovtt-Stine (Tessa) and Jan Stine. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and aunts and an uncle.

Christine was preceded in death by her father, Charles Stine.

Christine loved being in the garden. Given some fertile soil and a packet of seeds, she could grow all the ingredients needed for an impressive salsa made for those lucky enough to spend the holidays with her.

Christine never met a foul word she didn’t adopt as her own. Many family gatherings provided a linguistic education to young nieces and nephews, much to the chagrin of their parents, who were kept laughing with her hilarious stories and general sarcasm.

A moon child at heart, Christine kept one eye to the sky, giving regular notice of all upcoming celestial events. Meteors showers were a favorite, but her true love was the many phases of the moon. One day, we look forward to meeting again under her “Crazy Moon.”

A memorial gathering for Christine will be held Saturday, June 24, from 1-5 p.m. at O’Riley Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. A celebration of life will follow at 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Johnson County Senior Service, 36 Tracy Road, Whiteland, IN 46184. Please visit www.OrileyBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
