City to offer limb pickup beginning Wednesday

Tuesday, July 4, 2023

As a result of the significant wind storm and severe weather last Thursday, the city has been working to clear roads and clean up various tree hazards. Some neighborhoods continue to be without power. Duke Energy crews are working to restore power across the city. Much of west central Indiana suffered numerous power outages and other storm related issues.

Across the city there are numerous trees, limbs, branches and other storm debris in yards and along city streets. Residents are asked to place small quantities of twigs, small limbs and leaves in their trash toters. Residents are instructed not to place debris in recycling toters.

Starting July 5, city crews will begin picking up limbs that have been placed adjacent to the street. Do not place limbs or other vegetation debris in the street. After the pick-up of limbs, there may be some residual leaves and twigs remaining. Residents are asked to rake these items up and place them in their trash toter.

If you hire a tree service to remove a tree or large limbs, that contactor should remove all of their limbs, cuttings and other debris. These should not be left for the city to remove.

Pick-up of limbs and storm debris will continue through July 21.

The city will not be picking up roofing materials, building materials, lawn furniture or other storm-damaged items.

Any pick-up work may be delayed by weather, equipment break-downs and other work responsibilities of city departments.

The city greatly appreciates the patience of our citizens as clean-up work continues after the storm.
