County Jail

Several people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 7:38 p.m. Heather A. Meagher, 39, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for failure to identify, false informing and on three local warrants.

Saturday

• At 6:31 p.m. Keith R. Gibson, 53, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for residential entry, criminal mischief, intimidation and driving a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator.

• At 2:32 p.m. Leana M. Boles, 31, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a Montgomery County warrant.

Friday

• At 11:19 p.m. William P. Garvin, 64, Greencastle, was booked in on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 2:14 p.m. Blake A. Brown, 34, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 1:52 a.m. Dakota J.J. Holland, 29, Greenfield, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 12:58 a.m. Austin M. Tharp, 35, Brazil, was housed at the jail for probation violation.

Thursday

• At 10:45 p.m. Kirissa L. Ford, 47, Cloverdale, was booked in for possession of a narcotic drug, neglect of a dependent, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 9:36 p.m. Thomas E. Schultheis, 57, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for possession of a narcotic drug, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 8:24 p.m. Thursday, Lacey J. Stockton, 36, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer.

Taken into custody at an Avenue B residence, Stockton was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, battery on law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

• At 7:50 p.m. Thursday, Rob R. Hood, 59, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Helmer.

Stopped at New York and North Jackson streets, Hood was lodged in the jail for driving while intoxicated and driving after forfeiture of license for life. Under portable breathalyzer testing, he registered a .147 percent blood-alcohol concentration.

Three recent summonses were issued by Greencastle officers:

• At 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Randy Unger, 57, Monticello, was given a summons into court by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Unger was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Unger was also ticketed for disregarding an automatic signal and for having an expired license plate (March 28, 2023).

• At 10:07 p.m. Friday, Jonathan Sedam, 21, Indianapolis, was issued a summons by Officer Justin Herd.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Sedam was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 3:53 a.m. Thursday, Stacey Northington, 33, Greencastle, was issued a summons from Officer Helmer.

Stopped at Fawnview Drive and Deer Field Lane, Northington was given a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

One additional citation was issued by city officers:

• At 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Amelia Garner, 34, Bald Knob, Ark., was ticketed by Officer Jared McDaniel.

Stopped on Jackson Street, Garner was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent crashes.

• At 10:14 p.m. on Friday, Jesse L. Stout, 23, Fillmore, was traveling on County Road 50 South in a 2015 Lincoln MKZ when he hit a deer.

Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:16 p.m. on Friday, Taylor B. Strange, 34, Fillmore, was northbound on County Road 750 East when, for an unknown reason, her 2012 GMC Yukon left the west side of the road and hit a utility pole.

Strange was taken by medics to Hendricks Regional before Deputy Josh Clark could get a statement from her.

The vehicle was towed. Clark estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six incidents since Wednesday:

• At 12:17 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to the DePauw University-owned duplex at 105 W. Hanna St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:21 with DePauw Public Safety and maintenance present and determined the alarm was due to a faulty detector head. Maintenance advised that the issue would be addressed. GFD went back into service at 12:26 p.m.

• At 12:03 a.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Chabraja Hall at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:08 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The building was ventilated and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 12:17 a.m.

• At 6:11 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 461 E. Ridgeland Rd. for an appliance fire. Firefighters arrived at 6:15 and found that a fire contained to an oven was extinguished on their arrival. The home was ventilated and the air was monitored. GFD went back into service at 6:58 p.m.

• At 1:16 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Sigma Alpha Epsilon at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:19 and determined the alarm was due to construction. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:29 p.m.

• At 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Breadworks for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:31 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The building was ventilated and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 1:35 p.m.

• At 1:47 a.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to the Percy L. Julian Science and Mathematics Center at DePauw for an odor investigation. Firefighters arrived at 1:51 and found an alarm in an exhaust hood in a lab. No hazards were identified. DePauw Public Safety was advised to notify the lab’s professor. GFD went back into service at 2:05 a.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for eight medical assists and had one disregard in this timeframe.
