Seelye Stoffregen named Amy Hasbrook Award recipient
Seelye Stoffregen, a member of the women’s track and field team and May 2023 graduate has been selected as the 2023 Amy Hasbrook Award recipient which recognizes the top senior student-athlete competing on a DePauw women’s team. Stoffregen is also DePauw’s nominee for the North Coast Athletic Conference’s Pam Smith Award and the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
The Hasbrook Award is presented annually to a senior student-athlete from a women’s sport who best exemplifies effort and excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, integrity, dedication to the team, campus involvement and community service.
Stoffregen, a graduate of Greencastle High School, was a two-time NCAC outdoor track and field champion in the 400-meter hurdles and was part of two NCAC champion 4x400 relays. She is the program’s record holder in the 4x200-meter relay (indoors) and the 4x400-meter relay (indoor and outdoor). A two-time all-Great Lakes Region honoree, Stoffregen has earned spots in DePauw’s all-time top 10 times list in the 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and 60-meter hurdles. She was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team in 2022 and was a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree in 2023.
A magna cum laude graduate with a global health major, Stoffregen was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma national scholar athlete honor society and was named to the DePauw Dean’s List, Tiger Pride Honor Roll and the NCAC Academic Honor Roll.
Stoffregen was a Putnam County Hospital administration intern in 2022-23, interned with the Putnam County Health Department in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and was co-author of the 2022 Putnam County Community Health Needs Assessment. Stoffregen participated in a research methods and ethics seminar in Switzerland in the fall of 2022 where she conducted fieldwork in Switzerland and Morocco researching and comparing mental health treatments with local doctors. She also aided the non-profit organization Foundation Althea.
Other finalists for this year’s Hasbrook Award included Maura Fitzgerald (basketball), Libby Hennelly (field hockey), Mei-Li Minnich (swimming and diving), Abby Pyburn (softball) and Kiley Shaw (tennis).
