County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Tuesday.

• At 6:09 p.m. Ethan D. Dickey, 31, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 5:25 p.m. Robert A. Jones, 44, Greencastle, was booked in for probation violation.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 8:43 p.m. Wednesday, Zachary Craffvits, 24, Terre Haute, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer and lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Stopped at South Jackson and Hanna streets, Craffvits was arrested on a Vigo County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of marijuana.

• Also arrested at the same time and place was Christopher Snodgrass, 20, Terre Haute. Snodgrass, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, was arrested on a Vigo County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of marijuana.

• At 9:48 a.m. Tuesday, Curtis Shelby, 35, Indianapolis, was arrested by Officer Billy DeWitt and lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Taken into custody on Indianapolis Road, Shelby was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine.

Two recent summonses were issued by Greencastle officers:

• At 3:45 p.m. July 21, Kyle Fisher, 29, Greencastle, was issued a summons into court by Officer Alec Pettit.

Stopped along Indianapolis Road, Fisher was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 8 p.m. July 18, Brandy Rexroat, 23, Indianapolis, was issued a summons by Officer Helmer.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Rexroat was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated the following recent crash:

• At 11:19 p.m. on Monday, Fisher D.E. Jones, 18, Coatesville, was southbound County Road 275 East in a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu when he was unable to navigate a curve and left the road, crashing into a tree.

Jones told Deputy Robert Soilleux he might have been going too fast for his headlights, which are misaligned.

The car was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six incidents since Monday:

• At 12:20 p.m. on Monday, firefighters were called to a motor vehicle crash with injuries at 1901 E. S.R. 240. Crews arrived on scene at 12:24 p.m. to find a two-vehicle accident. They started medical assessment of the patients and turned over care once PCEMS arrived on scene, returning to service at 12:40 p.m.

• At 11:23 p.m. on Monday, GFD was called to an accident with injuries at 3997 S. CR 275 East. The patient was already in the ambulance, so crews checked the vehicle and returned to service at 11:57 p.m.

• At 5:26 p.m. on Tuesday, crews investigated an alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. Upon investigation crews determined that the alarm was activated due to cooking on the second floor. Crews reset the alarm and returned to service at 6:06 p.m.

• At 8 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a public service call at 73 E. Ridgeland Rd. Firefighters had received a call at the station for an issue with a residential smoke detector. They arrived and assisted the homeowner with the detectors and then returned to service at 8:18 p.m.

• At 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, firefighters performed another public service call, this one to an odor investigation at 96 Briarwood Ct. Crews arrived and conducted a thorough investigation and were unable to determine any issue. They were back in service at 9:40 p.m.

• At 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, crews responded to a tree in the road at 2687 W. CR 25 North. They removed the tree from the road and returned to service at 2:35 a.m.

In addition, GFD also responded to seven medical calls, and were disregarded en route to three other dispatches.
