Larry Kenneth Roberts

Larry Kenneth Roberts passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023, 10 days before his 81st birthday.

Larry was born at home on the west side of Indianapolis on Aug. 25, 1942, to Loyd F. and Ila B. (Waites) Roberts.

Larry graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1960 and went on to get degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering from Purdue University.

He used his knowledge to lead the team that oversaw the building, equipment and grounds maintenance for Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle for more than 28 years.

Larry courageously served in the United States Army as a Green Beret and Airborne Ranger in the 5th Special Forces during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 281 in Cloverdale.

Larry enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time with family and was a very proud Papaw.

Larry was preceded in death by his mom and dad, his sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Dayton, and his nephews, Darrell Prince, Dwayne Prince and Jimmy Dayton.

He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Nikki Selig; his children, Tina (Joe) Jennison and Mark (Lucinda) Fox; and his grandchildren, Samantha, Hunter, Savannah, Avery and Ryan.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, Aug.20 from 2-5 p.m. at American Legion Post 281 located at 501 S. Main St., Cloverdale.
