Barbara J. Cox

Barbara J. Cox, 89, of Greencastle, passed away on Aug. 23, 2023.

She was born July 16, 1934 to the late Verlin and Erma (Dawson) Sims.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jim (Katrinka) Bassett, Nancy (Jeff) Capps, Cindy Stapert and Kenny Bassett; brother Leon Sims; stepchildren Darren (Kathy) Cox, Donna Cox, Linda (Larry) Cowin, Larry (Judy) Cox and Juanita Albin; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband James Bassett and husband Gene Cox; daughter Shirley Sims; brothers Norman Sims, Kenneth Sims and Larry Sims; and sister Betty Sample.

Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service time of 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
