County Jail

Twelve people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Tuesday

• At 5:56 p.m. Hayle M. Parrish, 25, Greencastle, was booked in for probation violation.

• At 11:23 a.m. Dylan A. Boster, 29, Crawfordsville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 8:49 a.m. Joseph N. Bailey, 37, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 5:15 a.m. Kashae L. Gray, 35, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for trafficking with an inmate.

• At 5:14 a.m. Timita J. Sanford, 24, Fort Wayne, was booked in for trafficking with an inmate.

Monday

• At 12:28 p.m. Kieara S. Mainah, 19, Plainfield, was lodged at the jail for driving with an ACE of .15 or greater and for driving while intoxicated.

• At midnight, Richard A. Romandine, 44, Brazil, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

Sunday

• At 5:43 p.m. Clifford A. Baugh, 58, Terre Haute, was booked in on a local warrant.

Saturday

• At 7:42 p.m. Jeffrey W. Coleman, 54, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for operating a motorboat while intoxicated, refusal to identify self and refusal to submit to chemical testing.

• At 2:09 p.m. Amber K. Yoquelet, 27, Fort Wayne, was taken into custody for conspiracy to traffic with an inmate and possession of a controlled substance.

Friday

• At 4:03 p.m. Jesse R. Taylor, 37, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 12:04 p.m. Courtney A. Warner, 44, Hardinsburg, Ky., was booked in for burglary.

City Police

Six recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 3:22 p.m. Wednesday, Kevin Johnson, 53, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody at the Putnam County Airport off Ballard Lane, Johnson was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a local warrant for invasion of privacy.

• At 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, Michael Van Every, 43, Greencastle, was arrested by Capt. Brad Hiatt.

Taken into custody on the Domino’s Pizza parking lot off Bloomington Street, Van Every was taken to the local jail on a Putnam County warrant for violation of bond on original charges of public intoxication and unauthorized entry of vehicle.

• At 7:35 p.m. Sunday, Mark N. Dunn, 43, Greencastle, was arrested by Capt. Charles Inman.

Arrested at Howard and Maple streets, Dunn was housed at the jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. His blood-alcohol concentration registered .185 percent under portable breathalyzer testing.

• At 9:37 p.m. Friday, Coty A. Gray, 28, Indianapolis, was arrested by Officer Damon Ludwig at Robe-Ann Park.

Gray was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 7:35 p.m. Friday, Sigmund A. Croan, 30, Danville, was arrested by Officer Damon Ludwig at Robe-Ann Park.

Croan was booked in to the jail for possession of methamphetamine.

• At 6:33 p.m. Friday, Zakkary M. Osburn, 31, Cloverdale, was arrested by Officer Chris Helmer.

Taken into custody on the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter, Osburn was lodged at the jail for inhaling toxic vapors.

Four recent summonses were issued by city officers:

• At 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Chance Evens, 23, Greencastle, was issued a summons into court by Officer Justin Herd.

Stopped at U.S. 231 North and Edgelea Drive, Evens was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 8:30 p.m. Aug. 28, Officer Helmer issued summonses to two men on the parking lot at the College Inn off Bloomington Street.

Octavio Monreal, 34, and Roman Silva, 45, both of Greencastle, were cited for possession of marijuana. Silva was additionally cited for possession of paraphernalia.

• At 7:10 p.m. Aug. 29, James Barrett, 42, Greencastle, was issued a summons by Officer Helmer.

Stopped at Earp and North Madison streets, Barrett was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

One recent citation was issued by city officers:

• At 12:35 p.m. Sunday, Scott Grimes, 59, Hillsboro, was ticketed by Reserve Officer Michael Crandall.

Stopped at Bloomington and Washington streets, Grimes was cited for going the wrong way on a one-way street (Bloomington).

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent crashes.

• At 6:23 p.m. on Sunday, Cynthia A. Ogborn, 61, Cloverdale, was southbound on U.S. 231 attempting to turn left onto County Road 800 South in a 2023 Buick Encore. Christy Waskom, 28, Seymour, was also southbound in a 2014 Kia Sportage.

Ogborn told Deputy David Bennett that as she was waiting to turn, her was struck from behind by Waskom’s vehicle. Waskom told Bennett that Ogborn attempted to turn at the last moment, and that she took evasive action in an attempt not to collide with her vehicle, striking the right-rear of the vehicle.

Ogborn and her passengers complained of pain, and were transported to Putnam County Hospital.

Waskom did not report any injuries.

Both vehicles were towed. Bennett estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000. Bennett was assisted at the scene by deputies Todd Hopkins and Levi Martin.

• At 5:24 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, Casen E. Masters, 17, Clayton, was eastbound on State Road 240 near County Road 775 East in a 2003 Ford Ranger.

A witness in another car told Cpl. Brian Helmer she observed Masters’ vehicle go left of center then overcorrect and leave the road, where it flipped several times into a cornfield.

Masters said his phone rang and as he attempted to answer it, he dropped it. He then reached down to pick it up and went left of center. He then overcorrected and lost control.

The driver was out of the pickup and walking around upon Helmer’s arrival and said he was not injured. However, due to the severity of the crash, Helmer had medics evaluate him.

Masters’ parents came to the scene and signed a statement of release.

The pickup was towed. Helmer estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four incidents between Monday morning and Wednesday evening:

• At 11:25 a.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched for a fully involved vehicle fire at 709 Terrace Ln. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 11:31 and extinguished the fire and conducted overhaul. GFD went back into service at 12:07 p.m.

• At 8:42 p.m. on Monday, GFD was requested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a missing person in the area of 2576 W. CR 25 North. Firefighters arrived at 8:53 and searched the area, but did not find the person. GFD was released by deputies at 12:37 a.m. Tuesday.

The missing person was located later on Tuesday morning.

• At 9:08 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 47 Jackson Blvd. for an electrical hazard. Firefighters arrived at 9:13 after being advised that the homeowner had unplugged something from a wall outlet, after which it sparked and tripped the breaker. No fire was found after the outlet was checked, and the homeowner was advised to leave the power to the outlet off until it could be replaced. GFD went back into service at 9:28 p.m.

• At 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Phi Gamma Delta at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:46 and did not determine a cause for the alarm. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 11:06 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for 12 medical assists and had two disregards in this timeframe.
