South Putnam, North Putnam, Bainbridge win team races at Tiger Cub XC Invite

Greencastle's Landon Miller cruises home to a victory during the boys' high school race at the Tiger Cub Invitational Saturday morning at Big Walnut Sports Park with a winning time of 16:19. Miller beat out teammate Charlie Menzel (16:55) for the win with South Putnam claiming the team win on 28 points.

In the final weekend of racing before championship season begins, Greencastle hosted the Tiger Cub Invitational at Big Walnut Sports Park Saturday morning.

Four of the six team races were won by Putnam County schools with South Putnam winning the boys’ high school race, North Putnam winning the girls’ middle school race, Bainbridge winning the boys’ elementary race and Tzouanakis winning the girls’ elementary race on tiebreak.

Greencastle also featured two race winners as Landon Miller won the boys’ high school race in 16:19, comfortably ahead of teammate Charlie Menzel (16:55) in second, while Colleen Bossnack won the high school girls’ race in 21:05, nearly 30 seconds ahead of runner-up Elise Kendall (21:32) of South Putnam.

North Putnam’s Chanlie Busch also picked up a win, claiming the girls’ middle school race in 11:32. Parke Heritage’s Kamden Shields (10:04) won the boys’ middle school race over Cougar Gavin Oakley (10:51).

Tzouanakis took runner-up spots in both elementary races through Otto Kirsch (13:30) in the boys’ race and Mallory Bossnack (14:27) as Cascade’s Kohen Korpal (13:04) and Cora Hart (12:51) won the boys’ and girls’ elementary races respectively.
