BAINBRIDGE – Facing North Putnam was going to be a struggle for Cloverdale’s volleyball team.

Doing so short two of three seniors and with a third player not at 100 percent, forcing several freshman into the rotation, the Clovers took the brunt of a Cougar attack that enjoyed itself Thursday night to the tune of a 25-6, 25-6, 25-11 win.

“We came out with a great gameplan and got everybody in,” North Putnam head coach Jenny Heron said. “I’m glad we kept the Paddle and that it was great to get another win.”

“Our freshmen are having to step up,” Cloverdale head coach Paige Glassburn noted. “We are struggling with our rotations right now as we have players out but our underclassmen are trying to step things up.

“We’re seeing some good things but North Putnam is a good team.”

Ashleigh Riley led North Putnam’s attack with 12 kills while Saylor Carrell and Phoebe Fouts had five each.

Addi Osburn dropped in eight aces while Alexa Stiff added five more. The Cougars only faced 21 receptions across three sets and had 21 total digs for the night.

North Putnam led the first set 20-3 before Cloverdale scored three-straight points. The hosts had runs of nine and eight points in set two as well as a nine-point run early in the third set, though the visitors found some better moments as reserves came in for the Cougars.

Most of the Clover points on the night came from Cougar serving errors, though Callee Smith had a block and Grace Lee had a point, kill and ace in the third set.
