If elected as Bainbridge Clerk-Treasurer, I would bring decades of experience in legal office administration, banking, bookkeeping, customer service, and payroll to the position, and I would use this knowledge to help our town council hold the line on spending while enhancing services and looking ahead to future needs.

My name is Pam Kashman. I have a strong desire to contribute more to the people I’ve called neighbors and the place I’ve called home for all but a few years of my life. My mom (Susie Lanham) always taught me the importance of leaving things better than you found them, and my resume matches well with the Clerk-Treasurer’s duties and responsibilities. In other words, I am ready to hit the ground running and will do so in honor of all those who came before me with immense pride in and commitment to this town.

I attended Bainbridge Elementary and graduated from North Putnam High School with the class of 1989. I then earned a legal assistant diploma, working for three different law firms in Putnam County and one in Hendricks County for approximately 15 years. Before I entered the legal field, I worked in banking and served for a couple of years as executive director of the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce. My last stint in law was bookended with service to Bainbridge Christian Church as the church secretary and Myers Optometry as the office manager and optician. I am currently a teller at Tri-County Bank.

While not listed officially on my resume, I’ve also helped my husband, Chris, throughout our marriage as he owned and operated a successful automotive repair shop in Bainbridge. That held some of my best career experiences — spending time with him and helping our friends and neighbors get back on the road. In our spare time, we enjoy being grandparents, caring for our pets, Bible study, reading and traveling. And, if you are connected with me on social media, you know I enjoy dining out with my dad, John Nichols.

My past volunteer activities include serving as treasurer of Bainbridge Christian Church, North Putnam Marching Band and Bainbridge Improvement Society (BIS). I continue to be involved with BIS and look forward to ramping up events in the next calendar year to foster a sense of community and celebrate the town’s bicentennial. I am also involved with the North Putnam Alumni Association.

As a proud mom to Trey and Alissa Ritter and my bonus kids, Johnathon and Josie Kashman, all North Putnam alums, I know the importance of a safe, welcoming town in raising a family. I want that for future generations and think the clerk-treasurer can be impactful in facilitating youth and family programming, looking for grant opportunities to make Bainbridge as financially secure as possible, and supporting our public safety agencies.
