Current U.S. Congressman Jim Baird (R-Greencastle) on Monday announced his campaign for U.S. Congress.

Describing himself as enthusiastic about his work for the people of Indiana’s Fourth District, Baird is seeking his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Fourth District encompasses much of West Central Indiana.

Baird explained why he is seeking re-election.

“Now more than ever, we need capable, conservative leaders to fight he far left extremists who want to take our nation down a path of fiscal ruin and moral depravity,” he said. “I will continue to fight with my conservative colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives for life, liberty and opportunity for every Hoosier I represent.”

Baird’s current committee assignments include:

Committee on Agriculture
• Chairman, Subcommittee on Conservation, Research and Biotechnology
• Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry
• Subcommittee on Nutrition, Foreign Agriculture and Horticulture

Committee on Science, Space and Technology
• Subcommittee on Energy

• Subcommittee on Research and Technology

Committee on Foreign Affairs
• Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia
• Subcommittee on Africa

  • “who want to take our nation down a path of fiscal ruin”.

You could start by stopping co-sponsoring and supporting one of the largest socialist programs the Federal government has, known commonly as the Farm Bill. But you most likely won’t, you need the support of those who gain from this transfer of wealth from the taxpayer to the wide variety of people, organizations and businesses who benefit from that transfer of funds. Let the market decide, not the Federal government.

  • Moral depravity? Ah, yes, because Republican politicians consider themselves the only good and most righteous deciders of how the rest of the peasants should live.

  • "Moral depravity? Ah, yes, because Republican politicians consider themselves the only good and most righteous deciders of how the rest of the peasants should live." Well said, and thanks monicajorgensen.

I really enjoy blanket and broad condemnations.

I know this isn't the NEW YORK TIMES, but good grief.

  • I say we drop all socialists programs. That should make the haters of those who feed the world feel better!

Plus, by not supporting what is really the Nutrition bill (80% of farm bill goes to nutrition programs, not farmers), I guess that means not supporting nutrition programs also.

    Yikes!!!

    Interesting.

I also see the paint brush is very broad today. I find the comment interesting when it can be easily said the SSLCSL really is the party of the righteous and also decide how the rest of the peasants live.

So, maybe, if the comments above are valid, they are actually valid for both major parties.

  • Biden-Harris Administration Provides Historic $3 Billion through Inflation Reduction Act for Climate-Smart Practices on Agricultural Lands

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is making more than $3 billion in funding available for agricultural producers and forest landowners nationwide to participate in voluntary conservation programs and adopt climate-smart practices in fiscal year 2024 as part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda. The announcement comes as the Biden-Harris Administration hosts the first-ever White House Climate Resilience Summit.

  • “I say we drop all socialists programs.”

I couldn’t agree more. Welfare programs, both individual and corporate, need to go. Workers comp needs to go. The Farm Bill needs to go.

  • It’s a good time to have real talk about this country. End handouts and open the border. Our economy needs workers. Those that rely upon handouts will fade away. Those that want to participate in the American dream and work hard will thrive. Think about this.

  • Koios, have you been watching the news lately? The border is open, and every liberal/woke/Biden-supporting mayor of a woke city is declaring it a wonderful move/idea by screaming "Close the border!" LOL!

-- Posted by Prince of Stardust Hills on Wed, Oct 4, 2023, at 10:16 AM
  • And I should point out that these same mayors applaud the illegal migrants and open-border policy as long as the illegals remain in some other state or city, such as Arizona, Texas, or Florida or their communities receive a certain "ACCEPTABLE" number of illegals. There has to be a better way for America to gain more immigrants without the confusion/woke-city emergency declarations/expense/disorganization. Yep, I'm with you! More immigration is a great idea. Let's do it! However, in the meantime, what we are seeing at our open border is anything but rational.

But then again, from what I'm seeing, hearing, and even reading in the Banner may be an indication that being delusional is the new American norm. Could be. Most likely is.

  • Prince, your thinking doesn’t have to be binary. Even though our political and media system tends to make it seem that it has to be that way. By open the border I mean accelerate legal immigration. Make Dreamers immediately legal. Have a robust system to allow people who want to work to come in. That’s the best way to fix and grow our economy. This us versus them attitude that Baird and almost every other politician loves to use is a no win situation for our country.

Jim Baird wouldn't know conservatism if it bit him in the backside.

He supported McCarthy - who gave Biden and Democrats everything they want.

He has done NOTHING to call attention to, nevermind actually try to fight, the crushing debt owed by this country through reckless spending.

But he'll do it this time, right?...HA!

And yes, we need to end all welfare/subsidies...personal and corporate.

And while I understand the idea of open borders/more workers to boost the economy, that is not a good idea.

Net, it may bolster the economy to a small degree, but at the expense of the country (borders, language, culture).

There are better ways to boost the economy, such as instituting tariffs to encourage US manufacturing instead of flooding the country with garbage from China. That raises wages and standard of living for Americans.

Bringing in a bunch of 3rd worlders will only drive down wages.

First things first... rid Washington DC of anyone with an R or D affiliation...and we can start with Baird.
