E-waste recycling event Oct. 7

The West Central Solid Waste District is sponsoring an electronics recycling day on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 8 a.m.-noon at Greencastle Middle School, 400 Percy L. Julian Dr.

The event will be rain or shine, and Putnam and Parke county residents can drop off electronics free of charge, without leaving their vehicles. Businesses and large-quantity generators are prohibited.

Since 2011, it is illegal to knowingly throw away E-waste such as computers, printers, cellphones and televisions in trash, as they are banned from landfills.

There is a $20 vendor charge for each television of any size. Checks should be payable to Green Wave.
