Linda Ann York

Linda Ann York, 83, of Greencastle, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023.

Born June 20, 1940, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Mark and Muriel (Gosney) Carter.

She was a graduate of Greencastle High School in the class of 1958 and attended DePauw University.

Linda began her career at IBM in Greencastle. Later, she worked and retired from the Rockville Correctional Facility, where she worked in administration and served as a correctional officer.

Linda loved being outside working in her yard. She was a proud member of the Putnam County Master Gardeners Association.

Linda’s most cherished possessions were her family. Everything she did revolved around them. There were countless adventures with her dear sister Karen, who survives her. Karen’s children, Michael and Jennifer, were like another son and daughter to Linda.

Linda’s true joys revolved around time spent with her grandchildren. She saw their countless sporting events, arranged trips and had many overnight stays in her home.

Linda is survived by her sons, Rob (Tammy) York and Nick (Kaye) York; sister Karen Selman; grandchildren Trey (Jess) York, Brady (Emily) York, Colin York, Meilani York and Kara York; a great-grandchild, Avery York; nephew Michael (Janice) Selman; and niece Jennifer (Michael) Drecoll.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
