Through a grant from Walmart as well as sponsors, monthly meals have restarted at the Putnam County Senior Center.

The meals, which are available for dine-in or carry-out, are available for $5 and open to anyone, not just seniors. During the September event, seniors were eating in the dining area, while county employees were carrying boxes of chicken and noodles back across Jackson Street to the Putnam County Courthouse.

Senior Center Director Malinda Mann recently go the meal program restarted after it came to an end during the pandemic. A $1,000 grant from Walmart helped kick start things.

Additionally, volunteers and sponsors — last month it was Hickory Creek at Sunset — make things possible.

The meals are normally served on the second Tuesday of the month, though in October it will be the third Tuesday, Oct. 17.

For more information, contact the Senior Center at 653-8606.

The Putnam County Senior Center is located at 9 W. Franklin St., Greencastle.
