Wassell David Crosby

Wassell David Crosby, 79, of Roachdale, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, Oct. 14, 2023.

He was born on April 29, 1944, in Crawfordsville to the late Samuel David and Anna Pearl (Bishop) Crosby.

On Aug. 26, 1963, he married Rosalie “Roberta” (Harvey) Crosby. She survives.

Wassell graduated from Roachdale High School with the class of 1963.

He was a member of Roachdale Christian Church, where he was baptized in 1955.

Wassell worked in several capacities during his life, but always as a truck driver and owning his own trucking business, Crosby Trucking. He also worked part time for Bonifacius Electric for over 20 years, Rose Brothers Farm Trucking, General Motors, NAPA trucking and Richmar Trucking, where he officially retired.

He enjoyed cowboy movies, playing cowboys and riding horses with his best buddy, JB.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta; his children, Patricia (Dennis) Higgins, Russell (Tina) Crosby and Debra Crosby; 15 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ann Kellogg; many nieces and nephews; and his two great friends, James (Kathy) Bonifacius and Calvin (Dianna) Cochran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children Darrald Crosby and Penny Crosby; brother Whitson Crosby; grandchildren Rebekah Crosby and Brooklyn Cotton; and nephew Chadwick Crosby.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20 at Roachdale Christian Church, 1 N. Walnut St., Roachdale, IN 46172, with Pastor Nate Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Oct. 19 at the church from 4-8 p.m.
