Fred Jacob Cooper Jr., a beacon of strength and determination, departed from this life at his home in Greencastle on Sept. 20, 2023.
Born on Nov. 9, 1949, in Lebanon, Fred’s 73 years were a canvas of adventure and perseverance.
Fred lived an adventurous and full life marked by an enduring passion for mechanics and adventure. Throughout his remarkable journey, he wore many hats: a dedicated mechanic, a car racer, a valiant boxer and a fearless pilot. Fred’s professional journey of 45 years at the Amtrak Beech Grove Shops stands as a testament to his unwavering hard work and dedication. Fred’s hands and heart were never idle; he had a love for dogs and an unwavering commitment to his family, especially his cherished sons.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Louviena Holstein; his devoted sons, Kyle and Keith Cooper; a caring daughter-in-law, Karin Cooper; his cherished grandchildren, Audrey and Andrew Cooper; and loyal dog Lilly.
A memorial service to honor Fred’s memory will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Gobin Church, Greencastle, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The doors will open for visitation from 3-4 p.m. Friends and loved ones are invited to spend time with the family, share stories and reminisce through a collection of photos and memorabilia. The memorial service will commence at 4 p.m.
Flowers and condolences may be sent to 110 W. Berry St., Greencastle, IN 46135, on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023. Flowers are also welcomed at Gobin Church on Oct. 21.
In the hearts and memories of those who knew him, Fred’s legacy is immortalized, woven into the fabric of the lives he touched with his wisdom, love and spirit of adventure. He will be deeply missed.
