County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 2:42 p.m. Jeffrey D. Bindhammer, 30, Reelsville, was booked in on a local warrant.

Tuesday

• At 8:32 p.m. Gregory A. Boswell, 55, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 11:38 a.m. Joseph N. Froedge, 34, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine and battery in the presence of a child.

• At 10:47 a.m. Anthony L. Anderson, 33, Centerpoint, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 10:42 a.m. Richard M. Toth II, 32, Roachdale, was booked in for probation violation.

• At 10:14 a.m. Mariah C. Jacobson, 27, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine and domestic battery.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 10:36 p.m. Wednesday, Christopher T. Manning, 33, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Taken into custody at Veterans Memorial Highway and Bloomington Street, Manning was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and operating with a suspended registration out of Illinois.

Under portable breathalyzer testing, Manning registered a .157 percent blood-alcohol concentration, nearly twice the legal Indiana limit of .08 percent.

One recent citation was issued by city officers:

• At 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dayton Hastings, 24, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Damon Ludwig.

Stopped along Indianapolis Road, Hastings was cited for operating a vehicle in violation of a learner’s permit.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five incidents between Monday and Friday:

• At 12:09 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to Cummins Behavioral Health for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 12:14 and determined the alarm was due to a malfunction in the alarm system. They were advised that the alarm company would be contacted to repair the issue. GFD went back into service at 12:31 p.m.

• At 12:55 p.m. on Monday, GFD was dispatched to assist the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department after a large column of black smoke was reported in the area of Skyline Drive. Firefighters arrived there at 1:02 p.m. and did not locate any fire. GFD went back into service at 1:05 p.m.

• At 10:01 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 110 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10:06 and determined the alarm was due to a dirty detector head. The detector head was cleaned and the alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 10:17 a.m.

• At 4:28 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to Blanchard House at DePauw University for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 4:32 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 4:33 p.m.

• At 8:36 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Montgomery Hall at DePauw for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:37 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm system was reset. GFD went back into service at 8:38 p.m.

Additionally, GFD responded for five medical assists during this timeframe.
