BRAZIL — A drug investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of a Putnam County man recently.

Clay deputies have been investigating the distribution of methamphetamine in the Clay County area for two months. During that time, detectives conducted two controlled buys of 10 or more grams of methamphetamine with a male subject.

Timothy Cheatham, 58, Reelsville, was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 18, and preliminarily charged with two counts of Level 2 felony dealing methamphetamine and two counts of Level 4 felony possession of methamphetamine.

Meanwhile, a search warrant was conducted at Cheatham’s residence, and other illegal items were located during that search.

Cheatham was booked in the Clay County Justice Center on a $50,000 cash bond, and a probable cause affidavit was filed at the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.

After reviewing the case, the prosecutor’s office formally pressed the same charges — two counts of Level 2 felony dealing methamphetamine and two counts of Level 4 felony possession of methamphetamine.
