City, Duke Energy Foundation support community projects

With funds to be split among several local entities, community representatives accept a check for $17,500 from the Duke Energy Foundation as a result of recovery efforts from summer storms. Earlier this summer, the Duke Energy Foundation provided funds to the City of Greencastle to support community recovery efforts after the summer storms.

The foundation awarded $10,000 to the community through the Putnam County Community Foundation and followed up with an additional $7,500 to the Greencastle Fire Department.

After consulting with various groups about community needs and unexpected expenses, the funds are being distributed as follows:

• Family Support Services: Storm Food Pantry replenishment, $1,250;

• Greencastle Township Trustee: Township cemetery repairs, $1,000;

• Greencastle Youth Softball Association: Ball diamonds storm repair work, $1,000;

• Greencastle Parks Department: Tree removal and replacement, $6,500;

• Greencastle Fire Department: District 7 Training Site repairs, $7,500; and

• Putnam County Community Foundation: Administrative Fees, $250.

Duke Energy Government and Community Relations Manager Rick Burger, joined the group for the check presentations.

“The community appreciates the support of Duke Energy Indiana, the Duke Energy Foundation and the Putnam County Community Foundation for their assistance with various storm recovery and storm preparation efforts,” Greencastle Mayor Bill Dory said. “Several of the projects offer countywide benefits.”
