Having served as such for nearly a year, Andi Schardt was retained as Fillmore’s clerk-treasurer in Tuesday’s elections.

Out of 22 votes tallied and with both of them declared as independents, Schardt edged out challenger Pearl Taylor 12-10.

Schardt was appointed to her position in December of last year when she succeeded Bill Miles.

Saying she had little idea of the challenges and obstacles coming in as clerk-treasurer, Schardt professed that she will strive further for grants and transparency.

“I am doing my best to correct the problems, organize the office and connect with the people of Fillmore,” Schardt told the Banner Graphic.

Meanwhile, Jeff Haltom will join Meredith Trusty and Jerry Huff on the at-large Fillmore Town Council. Out of 62 votes cast, Haltom received just over 37 percent of the vote with 23, compared to Huff’s 20 and Trusty’s 19.

Haltom will succeed C.J. Huller, who has served on the council since 2016.
