Musical salute to veterans set in Brazil

BRAZIL — The Jackson Township Community Band, directed by Matthew Huber, will present a salute to American veterans past and present at 10 a.m. on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11 inside the Clay County Courthouse.

The band has performed at the courthouse every year since Nov. 11, 1918, when the Armistice went into effect ending World War I. Armistice Day became Veterans Day in 1954.

The concert will include “Tramp,” “Legion of Honor,” “Winning Colors” and “Shrine of Liberty” by Fred Jewell, “America the Beautiful” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic” arranged by Harold Walters, “American Legion March” by Charles Parker, “George M. Cohan Patriotic Fantasy” arranged by Walter Ehret and Paul Yoder and “Glorious America” and “Freedom City” by Karl L. King.

Also included will be “Navy Hymn” arranged by James Ployhar, “Over There” by George M. Cohan, “Space Force” arranged by John Camp, “Armed Forces Salute” arranged by Bill Moffit and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and “The Star-Spangled Banner” by John Philip Sousa.

Following the concert, the American Legion and VFW will present their annual program at 11 a.m.
