Public invited Back to Bethlehem this weekend, throughout December

Monday, November 27, 2023

PUTNAMVILLE — A local church will continue a long tradition this weekend and carry it through the entire month of December.

Putnamville Baptist Church will host its Back to Bethlehem drive-through nativity experience throughout the month, featuring a return of an in-person interactive experience on the opening weekend.

On Dec. 1-3 from 6:30-8 p.m., those in attendance will be transported back in time to the days of old, with the opportunity to meet residents of Bethlehem as they prepare for a taxation that was ordered by Caesar Augustus.

After a short walk through the city, visitors will be welcomed into the Bethlehem Inn, where there will be warm refreshments and live music for their enjoyment. This experience will be in a heated building, so it will be available in rain, shine or snow.

In addition to this in-person experience, the church will host its traditional drive-through nativity beginning Dec. 1 and running through Jan. 1. Each vehicle will be guided through a tour with audio sent to its own personal radio station that will be presented at the beginning of the tour. These tourists will hear a dramatic adaptation from the King James Bible, including the prophesy of the coming of Christ as well as the presentation of the news to Mary, Joseph and the shepherds, before finally seeing the fulfillment of prophesy in the coming of Christ as well as the relevance this has to all people.

The drive-through tour will be running 24 hours a day for the entire month, but the best experience is after sundown. And everyone is welcome to come back as many times as they would like.
