County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 2:24 a.m. Terra N. Cooksey, 39, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant for burglary.

Sunday

• At 4:35 p.m. Matthew L. Mensch, 36, Coatesville, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 3:24 p.m. Christopher M. Caldwell, 41, Clinton, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 4:06 a.m. Emma R. Wood, 18, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated endangering a person, driving while intoxicated and illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage.

Wednesday

• At 11:20 a.m. Dipenbhai P. Patel, 40, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 8:18 p.m. Friday, Justin W. Rumley, 36, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Billy DeWitt.

Rumley was taken into custody at Washington and Spring streets after his vehicle was observed rubbing the curb.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail for possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated, Rumley registered .09 percent blood-alcohol concentration under portable breathalyzer testing.

• At 12:55 a.m. Thursday, Susan T. Falzone, 40, North Vernon, was arrested by Officer Justin Herd.

Stopped at Shadowlawn and College avenues, Falzone was booked into the county jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction.

Two recent summonses were issued by city officers:

• At 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jayden Adams, 18, Bainbridge, was issued a summons by Officer Herd.

Stopped at Jackson and Frazier streets, Adams was given a summons into court for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 7:28 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, Ricardo Rodriguez, 32, Brownwood, Texas, was issued a summons by Officer DeWitt.

Stopped along Indianapolis Road, Rodriguez was cited for operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to nine recent dispatches.

• At 4:58 p.m. on Thursday, firefighters responded to an alarm at the Greencastle Water Department, 409 N. CR 75 West. Upon investigation, crews determined that an overheated pump activated the system. Turning the scene over to the water department, GFD returned to service at 5:15 p.m.

• At 8:04 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to a carbon monoxide alarm at 1699 W. CR 100 North. Upon arrival, they learned from the owner that he had hit the button while changing batteries, which activated the system. Crews monitored the residence and found no carbon monoxide, returning to service at 8:26 p.m.

• At 8:26 p.m. on Thursday, crews were called to Druley House, 414 S. Indiana St., for a fire alarm. They determined the system was activated by cooking. They returned to service at 8:36 p.m.

• At 11:22 p.m. on Thursday, firefighters responded to an alarm at Longden Hall, 905 S. College Ave. They were unable to determine what activated the alarm, but reset the system and returned to service at 11:32 p.m.

• At 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 911 E. Washington St. Upon arrival, crews were met by the homeowner, who said it was an accidental set-off. They were back in service at 2:26 p.m.

• At 8:04 p.m. on Sunday, crews responded to a report of a tree into a power line at 4:15 Shadowlawn Ave. They arrived and determined the downed line was a communication wire. They then removed the tree from the road and returned to service at 8:25 p.m.

• At 8:56 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters were called to a motor vehicle crash with injury at Locust and Seminary streets. After assisting the patient to the ambulance and cleaning debris from the road, they returned to service at 9:10 p.m.

• At 11:43 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a tree in the road at County Road 125 North and 25 East. Crews arrived to find a large tree down with power lines on it. They notified the Putnam County Highway Department and Parke County REMC of the issue. They secured the scene and returned to service at 12:35 a.m.

• At 11:07 a.m. on Monday, crews investigated a fire alarm at Bloomington Street Hall, 225 S. Bloomington St. They were unable to determine what activated the system, returning to service at 11:21 a.m.

In addition to these calls, GFD responded to 15 medical calls recently, as well as twice being disregarded en route.
