Juanita Merle Farlow

Mrs. Juanita Merle Farlow, 84, Indianapolis, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Monday, Dec. 4, 2023.

Juanita was born Oct. 15, 1939, in Reelsville, a daughter of the late Raymond and Valla Tyler.

Juanita attended Ben Davis High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1957.

She spent much of her leisure time reading and crafting, as well as with needlepoint and crocheting. She also enjoyed gardening and caring for her flowers.

Juanita was employed for five years with American States Insurance Co. and Indiana National Bank (later Chase Bank), where she retired in 1999 after 36 years of service in management. She worked simultaneously with American Greetings Corporation and CVS Pharmacy for about seven years.

Juanita was a faithful 60-year member of Fleming Garden Christian Church, where she served as financial secretary, sang in the choir and was a member of the memorial committee. Juanita was a member of the Lynhurst Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. While a member of the chapter, she served as Worthy Matron in 1983 along with her husband, Robert N. Farlow. She also served as treasurer of the Lynhurst Chapter for more than 30 years and served as treasurer for the Cloverdale chapter of the OES for about seven years. Juanita was a member of several civic organizations over the course of her life.

Juanita is survived by her stepchildren, Bonnie (Frank) Pendleton and David (Carolyn) Farlow, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Robert N. Farlow; her daughter, Lisa Atkinson; a sister; three brothers; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. The Lynhurst Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at noon, just prior to the funeral service. She will be laid to rest by her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
