No one hurt after vehicle hit by train Thursday
FILLMORE — No one is injured after a vehicle was hit by a CSX freight train near Fillmore Thursday morning.
Shortly before 7 a.m., a motorist was attempting to turn south on County Road 750 East when another vehicle cut him off. He was forced off the road and then got stuck on the train tracks.
The motorist bailed from the vehicle when he saw the train approaching eastbound. The train then impacted the vehicle and dragged it about a quarter of a mile before coming to a stop.
The motorist, Ryan Contreras, 33, Fillmore, was later located and reported unhurt. No passengers were with him at the time of the incident.
The railroad crossing and intersection at 750 East and County Road 250 North were closed as CSX recovered the vehicle and inspected the train.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office worked the incident, while the Floyd Township Volunteer Fire Department was called to clean up debris.
