Thomas J. Greene

Our beloved father, grandfather and husband Thomas J. Greene died peacefully in his home in Greencastle, on Dec. 24, 2023 at the age of 85.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 28, 1938. Several years later, he moved to Willoughby, Ohio, where he graduated from Saint Joseph High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged.

He later went on to become a respected eye glass frame salesman to optometrists in various regions, including Indiana. He had a relentless zest for life and loved telling stories, especially stories that made people laugh.

He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Joyce Newman Greene; his children from his previous marriage (Eleanor O’Toole), Kelly Greene Szydlo (Joe) and Michael Greene; and his grandchildren, Kyle (Dorie) Muir, Corbyn (Brianna) Muir, Nichole Szydlo and Jannelle Szydlo. He also had four great-grandchildren, Lilli, Zachary, Hailee and Alex.

He is predeceased by his father, Thomas E Greene, his mother, Eva V Furlong Greene, and his older sister, Mary Ann Greene Goddard Dewhurst Hovland.
