Lloyd Irwin Blubaum

Lloyd Irwin Blubaum, 75, of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023.

Lloyd was born on Nov. 17, 1948 to the late Edgar and Maxine Blubaum in Vincennes.

After graduation from Lincoln High School, he attended Indiana State University where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.

Lloyd was a beloved teacher at North Putnam High School, where he touched many young lives. He retired in 2006 after 33 years of service.

In addition to spending time with his family and watching his grandsons, Brayden and Beckett, play baseball, Lloyd was an avid fisherman and loved being on the water. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle heart, steadfast faith and his wonderful sense of humor.

Lloyd met and married his devoted wife, Helen, in Terre Haute in 1971. She survives. The two of them moved to Putnam County in 1976 and built a life they loved. They were fortunate to spend the last several winters together in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Lloyd is also survived by his three daughters, Jacqueline Meagher, Kristina Wiley and Laura (Jon) Martin; siblings OraJean (Doug) Gillespie, Phyllis (Joe) Burnett, Wendell (Liisa) Blubaum, Ed Blubaum and Eldon (Debbie) Blubaum; grandchildren Kendi Thomas, Joshua Haig and Brayden and Beckett Martin; great-grandchildren Nolan, Conner and Brooks Haig; and long-time best friend Phil Myers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jonathon Haig.

Family, friends and former students may pay their respects on Saturday, Dec. 30 in the North Putnam High School Auditorium. There will be a memorial visitation from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following.

Lloyd was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church in Greencastle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran at 1421 S. Bloomington St. Greencastle, IN 46135.
