GHS music students to perform at upcoming convention
Greencastle High School has five students who have been selected into three prestigious performance groups to perform at the upcoming Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) Convention in Fort Wayne on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Sabina Seaman will be performing in the IMEA Honor Band. Band students from around the state have been selected and will perform music under the direction of Trae Blanco, the director of bands at Butler University.
Meanwhile, Clay Glessner and Hannah McLaughlin auditioned into the Indiana Choral Directors Association (ICDA) Honor Choir. They will be directed by Dr. Gary Packwood, director of choral activities at Mississippi State University.
Cam Benedix and Ty Ishikawa auditioned into All-State Orchestra and will be under the direction of Sameer Patel, who is music director and orchestra conductor of the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus and also artistic director of the San Diego Youth Symphony.
All five Greencastle High School students have challenged themselves to apply and audition for performance groups outside of their high school band and choir. It is an accomplishment to be selected.
