CLOVERDALE — A driver was arrested for intoxication in a semi rollover that occurred on Interstate 70 east of Cloverdale on Saturday.

First responders were dispatched to the area of the 48-mile marker at about 11:10 a.m. as the semi was in the median ditch. Along with the Indiana State Police, the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department and Putnam County EMS were at the scene.

It was determined that the semi drifted off the roadway and then rolled over.

The driver, Viacheslav Bambaev, 43, Brooklyn, N.Y., displayed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. Sgt. Matt Ames said he was then arrested after he refused to submit to a certified chemical test.

According to booking information, Bambaev was remanded to the Putnam County Jail following the incident. However, he bonded out Sunday morning.

As a lane and shoulder were shut down, traffic was backed up for several hours for cleanup. Curtis Wrecker retrieved the semi.
