With the 2024 session of the Indiana General Assembly under way this week, not much drama is being forecast for the session.

Leadership from both sides of the aisle are downplaying expectations following last year’s blockbuster session when the Legislature passed a near-total abortion ban, measures restricting students’ preferred pronouns and expanded school vouchers.

With that in mind, Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) made the following statement on opening day Monday regarding Gov. Eric Holcomb’s 2024 agenda:

“Senate Republicans share several of the governor’s priorities like expanding access to child care and supporting our students – especially as it pertains to ensuring our third-graders have the foundational reading skills they need to be successful as they progress in school,” Bray said.

“We look forward to another productive legislative session working on behalf of Hoosiers alongside the governor and our colleagues in the House, and we are excited to share the details of our Senate Republican legislative agenda later this week,” he added.

Senate Republicans are scheduled to unveil their legislative agenda during a press conference at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11 in the Senate Chamber.

State Sen. Bray represents Senate District 37, which includes portions of Putnam, Owen and Johnson counties and all of Morgan County.

Putnam County is also represented in the Generl Assembly by District 24 Sen. John Crane (R-Avon) and District 44 Rep. Beau Baird (R-Greencastle).
