County Council field down to five after Eckert withdrawal

The race for three Republican nominations for Putnam County County is down to five candidates.

On Friday, former Greencastle City Councilman Cody Eckert filed paperwork to withdraw his name from the May 7 primary ballot.

Eckert’s withdrawal leaves Amanda Brown, incumbent Stephanie (Summitt) Campbell, Daryn Clifford, Chad Colvin and Kerry L. Williams vying for the three spots.

The at-large council race is one of just two contested races at the county level this may with four Republican candidates — Andy Beck, Brad Buck Buchanan, David Fuhrman and Don B. Hatfield — facing off for the District 1 Putnam County Commissioner nomination.

The final ballot will not be certified by the Indiana Secretary of State’s Office until noon on Thursday, Feb. 29.
