Police conducting investigation on Avenue D

Greencastle police spent several hours conducting an investigation on the east end of Greencastle Wednesday afternoon and evening.

The Greencastle Police Department and Putnam County EMS were on the scene of a residence in the 1,000 block of Avenue D as of mid-afternoon, with police remaining on site as of 6 p.m.

No details regarding the incident were available Wednesday evening, but GPD Asst. Chief Ed Wilson wished to assure the public of its safety.

"We are conducting an investigation at a residence right now," Wilson said. "There is no threat to the community."

He added that police will release more information when it becomes available, likely on Thursday.
