SR 236 bridge near North Salem to temporarily close March 1

Thursday, February 22, 2024

NORTH SALEM — A bridge on State Road 236 in northwestern Hendricks County will close on or after Friday, March 1.

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced recently that the bridge over Big Walnut Creek near North Salem will be closed as crews begin demolition of the existing bridge.

Crews will be building a new one in this location for the safety and improved mobility of drivers.

Work is expected to continue through late August, though INDOT notes that work schedules are weather-permitting and subject to change.

Drivers will need to seek an alternate route to get around the closure, though no specific detour plans were announced.
