Apparently the sun, moon, Earth and the voter registration deadline will all align on Monday, April 8 in Greencastle

For that reason, Putnam County citizens will have an extra day to register to vote in the upcoming primary election.

On Monday, Voter Registration Clerk Stacia Hathaway shared the monthly newsletter from the Indiana Election Division noting that many Voter Registration Offices statewide will be closed on Monday, April 8 due to the eclipse.

In counties such as Putnam where this is the case, voters will have until noon on Tuesday, April 9 to complete paper voter registration forms. Online applications are still due by 11:59 p.m. on April 8 because state offices are not closed for the eclipse.

Additionally, early voting will still open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9.
