James Edward Roberts

James Edward Roberts, 55, of Bainbridge, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

He was born Dec. 15, 1968 in Greenfield at Hancock County Hospital. He was a graduate of North Putnam High School.

James worked in construction most of his life where he was part owner of Roberts Construction alongside his good friend Eric Pipes. One of the many joys he found in life was his 110 Screaming Eagle Harley Davidson and as well as loving his trucks. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved going hunting and fishing.

James also loved to grill out for his friends and his family, joking around and giving each of them a hard time was a favorite pastime of his. James enjoyed rooting for his favorite teams, the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins, as well as one of his favorite basketball players Michael Jordan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Edith Roberts (Boone) and Harry and Patricia Joslin.

James is survived by his parents, Welby Ray and Sheryl Roberts; his four children, daughter Kyleigh Hutchison (Jake Hutchison) and two sons, Michael Roberts (Jessica Cowen) and Jacob Roberts (Makenzie Westell) and stepson Jordan Hayden; as well as his five siblings, Angie Higgins, Karissa Thompson, Regina Brunson, David Roberts and Stephen Roberts.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bainbridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. Friends are encouraged to stay after visitation for services.
