Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Baire

Ronald “Ronnie” Baire of Bainbridge passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 22, 2024 at the age of 85.

He was born Aug. 18, 1938 in Bridgeport to Harold and Opal Baire (both preceding him in death).

He has two surviving sisters, Marlene Rumple (Larry, deceased) and Sharon St. John (Phillip).

Ronald and his wife, Kumiko, were married in 1961 and remained so until her passing in 2023.

Ronald was a career U.S. Navy sailor who served his country for more than 20 years. Over this span, he was assigned to seven navy ships, a combat tour in Vietnam and various other assignments that included Japan, Hawaii, California and Virginia. He retired from active duty in 1976.

After retirement from the Navy, Ronald worked for the United States Post Office in downtown Indianapolis for 30 years until retiring in 2006.

He enjoyed working outdoors, driving in the country and time with family.

He is survived by three children, Greg Baire (Belinda), Gary Baire (Sandy) and Delia McCalister; eight grandchildren, Richelle Williams (Jonathon), Justin Baire, Kayla McCalister, Kayoko Baire (Phillip Tse), Kumiko Cooley (Ty), Ashley Baire, Rosemary Baire and Ryuu Baire; and five great-grandchildren, Hiro Tse, Michiko Baire, Sophia Baire, Penelope Williams (Keira, Taven and Kya) and Hanako Tse.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at Bainbridge Community Center on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
