My name is Don B. Hatfield, and I am running for county commissioner district 1.
I was the former director of Planning and Zoning in Putnam County for four years. I have attended more than 50 commissioners meetings, and I was doing all the inspections and permits.
I am still a licensed and certified building inspector.
I have lived in Putnam County 30 years and have been married to my wife Kristine for 25 years. Together we raised five children who all went to South Putnam High School. All four boys served in the military, three of whom were in combat overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan
Putnam County is growing fast with farm land being bought up by developers.
With the growing population, getting an annex to the courthouse will be my first priority. Currently building permits for the county are being issued on the fourth floor of the courthouse near the courtrooms, for example.
I know most people have a great love for our bridges in the county. I drove across them every day when I was inspecting buildings. I would address our long overdue concerns with maintaining our bridges and roads.
