Tree giveaway set Saturday

Residents may stop by the Putnam County Museum parking lot on Saturday morning, April 20, for a tree giveaway.

Sponsored by Buzzi Unicem U.S.A., the event will have more trees than in the past years. The giveaway will start around 8 a.m. or as soon as organizers are set up.

Each person who comes may receive 10 trees. The trees will be grouped into five. Participants may get five each of two different species or 10 of a single speecies.

The tree species available this year are:

Evergreen seedlings - Norway spruce and white pine.

Deciduous tree seedlings - Black oak, black walnut, pecan, persimmon, red oak, river birch, swamp chestnut oak, swamp white oak, white oak, overcup oak and bald cypress.

Wildlife shrub seedlings - Buttonbush, washington hawthorn and common chokeberry.
