Stephanie Summitt-Campbell has announced her campaign for re-election for Putnam County Council in the May 7 primary.

Summitt-Campbell would be bringing a combination of 19 years of governmental experience to the table. She has spent the last three years on the Putnam County Council and currently serves as council president. Summitt-Campbell also sits on the West Central Solid Waste Board, as well as being the Board of Health representative for the council.

Additionally, she served a total of 16 years in the Putnam County Auditor’s Office, with the first eight years holding the following positions — plat, tax, payroll and claims deputy. The last eight years of her time with the Auditor’s Office, Summitt-Campbell served as the elected Putnam County auditor.

“I have enjoyed serving on the Putnam County Council these past three years,” Summitt-Campbell said. “During that time, as well as in my 16 years with the Putnam County Auditor’s Office, I gained valuable knowledge and experience with the funding of all county offices, and this knowledge will continue to benefit the county in the coming years.”

“Connecting with the Putnam County residents has always been one of the most valued parts of my serving,” she added. “Over the last several years the County Council and County Commissioners have worked as a team to improve the county. Together, we have been able to secure funding to assist with Recovery Raw, as well as set up a salary study to help increase and retain our great county employees. The two boards are also working together to locate sources of additional funding to fix the roads, bridges, annex and future jail maintenance and expansion. We have accomplished a lot in the last three years but realize we have more to do and I want to be a part of the continued change in improving our community.”

A lifelong resident of Putnam County, Summitt-Campbell is a 1996 graduate of South Putnam High School with a degree in computer science from Ivy Tech.

She and her husband Glen, have four children. Her parents are Michael and Jeanette Summitt, who still reside in Washington Township.

“It would be a great honor to continue to serve the residents of Putnam County,” Summitt-Campbell said.
