With temperatures forecast in the mid-60s to low 70s early next week, a cool start is expected to the swim season at the Greencastle Aquatic Center.

The city pool in Robe-Ann Park will officially open its seven-day-a-week schedule on Monday, Memorial Day.

That is the same opening schedule the aquatic center has utilized the past four or five years with the opening on the holiday weekend coinciding with local high school conduct graduation ceremonies on Friday and Saturday and parties for graduates that dominate Sunday. Graduations and their activities drastically affect the lifeguard pool which draws heavily upon high school seniors, necessitating the Monday opening.

Daily hours at the pool for open swim are 12-7 p.m. with the aquatic center also open for adult lap swim and tot time 11-11:45 a.m. Monday-Saturday. Admission price remains at $5.

The Bob York Splash Park will also open on Monday. Admission to the splash park is free. Its hours are the same as the pool’s.

Swim lessons will be taught at the pool in the evening this year, 7-7:45 p.m. with three sessions scheduled. Lesson periods are June 3-14, June 17-28 and July 8-19.

Registration for swim lessons is available at the park website with only five spots remaining for the first session and plenty of slots for the remaining two sessions.

Pool passes are now available for 2024. Price of an individual season pool pass is $85 with a family season pass for four people available at $240 (each additional person adds $50). Swimmers also can purchase a 10-punch pass (at a $10 savings) for $40.
