Music and girls
We took baby Miles to Jazz at the Duck on Thursday. It featured a tribute to Miles Davis, so we thought the shoe fit.
My hope is that he'll develop a love for music -- any kind of music. (Well, almost any kind of music. There are still some things I can't tolerate.) I'd love to see him playing an instrument in a few years, something his old man has never gotten around to.
He really enjoyed the music. He was quite taken with the mix of piano, guitar, bass and saxophone. The occasional crash from the cymbal or snare drum made him jump, but he seemed to enjoy that too.
But I don't think the music was his favorite part. He didn't miss a bit of the sights and sounds of a new place, but he seemed to most enjoy the college girls.
There was a group of three at the table next to us and they couldn't seem to get enough of Miles. He couldn't get enough of them either. He'd smile, giggle and grab at their hands. Then he'd smile some more.
My son is a flirt, which is funny since that's a skill I've always lacked.
So I've reached a conclusion. I think Miles will want to learn an instrument. I think he will someday join a band. However, I think he'll do it all in the name of meeting girls.
I don't know whether to be proud or frightened.
