Splash park work under way

With Steven Mitchell cutting up the concrete deck from the old kiddie pool area and Ryan White scooping up the chunks of concrete behind him, JR Bowling Excavating, Greencastle, prepares the Robe-Ann Park site for the new splash park being added to the aquatic center this spring. Owner Jim Bowling, posing with a group of youngsters (children of Greencastle Civic League members spearheading the project) looking forward to the free attraction, said his two-day demolition services represent an in-kind donation of $10,000-$15,000 in labor and equipment. The splash park is expected to be in operation by July 4, although Civic League officials are hopeful it can be ready by the Memorial Day opening of the city pool.
