Democrat candidate Gregg makes first local appearance (09/26/11)
If John Gregg really needed any further proof that the campaign trail is no picnic, he got it Sunday evening in Greencastle. The picnic he got featured persistent drizzle, a chill in the air and probably as many minds on NFL football as politics with the Bears and Packers playing as he spoke and the Colts and Steelers waiting in the wings at the time...
Tempting Taste treats (09/26/11)
Handing out portions of shaved ribeye steak sandwiches and shrimp bisque among other goodies, Final Approach Restaurant head chef Chase Hubbard (above, right) passes out samples Saturday at the second annual Taste of Putnam County in the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport. A large crowd sampled tasty treats -- including desserts from Putnam Inn, passed out by Kari King (with tray) and Margie Secrest to Rick Doyle and others -- and listened to a variety of musical entertainment, including singer Barbara Ellen of Rockville.
Final Approach tastiest at the 'Taste' (09/26/11)
The Final Approach Restaurant and Pub, represented by head chef Chase Hubbard (left), is presented with the Taste of Putnam County Golden Plate Saturday night by Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tammy Amor as other Final Approach staff members look on. A vote of the members of the public attending the second annual Taste of Putnam County at the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport determined the people's choice winner. Meanwhile, it was also announced that the 42-inch flat screen drawn at the event was won by Darren Carter.

The Round Barn Daycare youngsters recently participated in a Trike-a-Thon to help raise funds to donate to research and treatment of children suffering with cancer. Ralph E. Bell, 80, Roachdale, passed away at his residence on Monday morning, Sept. 26, 2011. He was born on April 12, 1931 at New Maysville to Dora and Bertha Myers Bell. He attended New Maysville and Bainbridge schools. He served in the U.S. Army. He retired from California Pellet Mill in Crawfordsville and also had worked at Mid-States and the Crawfordsville Schools...
