June Griffey Cox Elless, 88, Ladoga, died Wednesday at St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville.
Born at Adrian, Mich., she was the daughter of Carl Hayes and Franchon (Schumaker) Griffey.
A graduate of Central Normal College at Danville, she was a former high school teacher at Bainbridge and North Putnam High Schools. She had operated Cox Funeral Home in Ladoga from 1945-59. She was a member of Ladoga Christian Church, a 60-year member of American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of Ladoga Tri Kappa.
She married James L. Cox in 1940. He died Aug. 22, 1959. She married Jack E. Elless in 1962. He died in 1979.
Surviving are three sons, James Bryon Cox and wife Linda, Ladoga, and Earl C. Cox and wife Stephanie, Muncie, and Jack E. Elless and wife Tammy, Ladoga; daughter Genevieve Jan Fulwider and husband Gene, Ellettsville; stepson Jim Elless and wife Kim, Poseyville; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Carl J. Cox, and sisters Genevieve Davis, Evelyn Griffey and Joan Barnett.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, Ladoga, with Rev. Paul Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Ladoga Cemetery.
Visitation is 1-3 p.m. Saturday.
