Kathryn Polk Johnsen, 86, Greencastle, formerly of Reelsville, died Thursday.

She was born in Houston, Texas.

She was a graduate of Oklahoma University and earned a doctorate degree in sociology from Purdue University. She had been a professor at Purdue for 25 years, retiring in 1985.

Surviving are her husband, Sherman Johnsen; two sons, Russ Johnsen, Reelsville, and Jerry Johnsen, San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Eileen Sims, Lebanon; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at a later date.
