Town adopts '07 budget

Two representatives of the Roachdale Town Council approved the adoption of the 2007 budget as proposed during a special meeting Tuesday night at the town hall.

The estimated total for the 2007 budget the council can use is $560,648. This total was derived from five different funds that make up the 2007 budget. The five funds are the general fund, the motor vehicle highway fund, the local road and street fund, the cumulative capital improvement fund, and the cumulative capital development fund.

The council has an estimated total of $340,648 to be used in the general fund and $80,000 in the motor vehicle highway fund. The council also has an estimated total of $50,000 to be used in the local road and street fund.

In the cumulative capital improvement fund, the council has an estimated total of $30,000 to be used, while in the cumulative capital development fund, the council has an estimated total of $60,000 to be used.

Board member Barbara Scott motioned to adopt the 2007 budget as presented. President Bill Long seconded the motion.

The 2007 budget adoption was approved by a vote of 2 to 0.

The next regularly scheduled town council meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10 in the town hall. This meeting is open to the public.
