He was the son of Ben and Rosalee Jarvis. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a graduate of Greencastle High School.
He had worked as a telegrapher with the Monon Railroad, and later worked with the Association of American Railroads, covering a multi-state area with headquarters in Council Bluffs, Iowa, until his retirement.
Surviving are a daughter, Crystal Gayle Jarvis, South Bend; sister Lila May Jarvis Edwards, Greencas-tle; a cousin and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marian Gwen Hendrich.
