The fifth-ranked DePauw Tigers women's basketball team will face off against the Kenyon Lords in the first round of the Surf 'n' Slam Tournament in San Diego Thursday at 10 a.m.

The Tigers are led by Liz Bondi, who averages 15.7 points a game and is pulling down almost six rebounds per contest. Caitlin McGonigal is delivering solid play as well, producing 10 points a game.

DePauw is averaging 24 more points per contest than the Lords. DePauw is shooting 51 percent from the floor while Kenyon shoots just 38 percent.

Another factor the Tigers will look to exploit is the rebounding game.

The Tigers average almost four more rebounds than the Lords.

Emily Marshall is pulling down close to six rebounds per contest for DPU.

Perimeter shooting is something that can swing the tide one way or the other and DePauw is connecting on an impressive percentage from behind the arc.

The Tigers are averaging 47 percent from the three-point area while Kenyon is shooting 13 percent less than the Tigers at 34 percent. McGonigal, Pruzin, and Gretchen Haehl have made a combined 41 three-pointers on the season.

Kenyon has three players averaging in double digits on the season. Hilary Gowins is leading the way with 14 points a game. Anne Dugan is a close second with 13.5 points per contest and Alisha Moreno is contributing 12 points per game. But then their offensive productions falls off.

Their next scorer in line is Laurel Stokes who is averaging six points per game.

After Bondi and McGonigal, DePauw is paced by Jenna Fernandez and Cassie Pruzin

with 10 points each. Suzy Doughty is setting up her teammates well this season and has amassed 57 assists for the season.

Kenyon is currently on a two-game skid as they lost their last game to Otterbein, 70-68.

The Lords are 2-6 on the season and 0-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

DPU on the other hand has accumulated seven wins in a row and are 1-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Statistically the Lords are having problems on the defensive side of the ball. They are allowing five more points than what they are producing.

They are allowing their opponents the advantage in all catagories except free throw percentage and rebounding average.

The Tigers are dominating in the stat department allowing their opponents to gain an advantage in only the blocks catagory.

DePauw will be competing in the Surf 'N' Slam Tournament Dec. 28 - 30.
